strength and vision, peace and harmony: the dual motif of the pickaxe, the mining symbol of telluride.
for centuries, the area of telluride was used as campsite by the Ute tribe, living off the land in harmony. by the 1870s the sheridan mine was the first in a string of local claims for those with the endurance, fortitude, and vision of silver and gold. today we mine a different kind of gold - the powder mercurially gifted from the skies in the winter and the lush greenery of the summers. the same spirit of the original inhabitants pervades today.
a portion of the sale of each telluride t is donated to the telluride foundation. the telluride foundation provides support to local organizations involved in the environment, arts, education, athletics, health, and human services. buying this necklace supports local initiatives to preserve our environment and our local economy.
